Changes in ICSE syllabus will be effective from 2018

The students of ICSE and ISC will have to appear in examination with the new modified syllabi. It is announced that there will be a revision in syllabus of ICSE and ISC at the
58th National Conference of ASISC which was held at Bhubaneswar. This revision is applicable for the candidates who are going to take examination in 2018. 


Changes in ICSE syllabus
The probable changes in ICSE syllabi are in the subjects of

1. History and Civics
2. Geography
3. Mathematics
4. Physics

"The burden of the syllabus has been slightly reduced in each subject and topics have realigned between the class IX and X", said a senior member of the CISCE.

Why the board has decided to modify the syllabus?

The reasons of changing the syllabus :

1. It has been felt by the experts that the syllabi need to be realigned to ensure more students cracking the competitive exam.
2. The changes are needed to lessen the burden because parents are having a perception that CBSE is easier than ICSE. CBSE has only one subject called social science combining History, Geography and Physics whereas ICSE has two 100 marks papers combining History and Civics and Geography.
3. The changes are also needed due to the level of difficulty which is high in English in the schools affiliated to the board. The schools in rural areas find difficulty in getting adequately trained English teachers. Hence the council has planned to supplement the with the audio and video CD's to boost the classroom teaching.
4. The changes, as acknowledged by the secretary of ASISC, Nabarun De, will definitely auger well for the students.
